Been a While

It’s been a while since I posted here. I guess when you are only 4 years old, it’s hard to remember to blog. It’s a good thing that Mommy blogs about me on her blog, so you can always go there and hear all about me.

I have my very own room now! Mommy took all the toys out of the playroom, and then they painted it purple and white! They made it into a pixie room, just for me! There is even a Tinkerbell border on the wall. When I first saw the room, I was so excited and said, “I love this room!”… And hey, what 4 year old wouldn’t?

I’m going to be 5 in August, and Mommy says that means that I will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Mommy is not too sure she is ready for that, but I am excited… On Wednesday we went to the homeschool book store in Oregon City and Mommy and Daddy bought a bunch of school books for this fall. Mommy picked out my phonics workbooks, but we still need to get my math workbook. She has to order that one on the computer.

News from Amanda

I asked Mommy if I could post tonight, and she said that I could! Isn’t that cool!?

I really like our new house. I share a room with Alicia, and Mommy put some of my favorite toys in there. The doll house is in there, and I love that! Mommy put my Little Ponies in there too. I like to take the bucket of Little Ponies and sit on my bed and play with them… Usually I play in the room by myself. Alicia likes to play with the boys, with boys toys. Boring! I want girl toys. They are much more fun!

I wish Mommy would finish unpacking the playroom. Mommy says she is waiting for some book shelves, but she also says that we can’t play in there until all the boxes are gone. She’s afraid they will fall on us or something. *sighs*… But our kitchen us in there, and all the baby dolls… I really want to play with the baby dolls.

One of my favorite things to do is to eat. Whenever I see Mommy starting to cook, I will yell, “Boys! It’s time to eat!” then I will climb up into my booster seat at the table and wait for Mommy to be done… Then Alicia and the boys come out and get irritated with me, when they see that Mommy is just starting to cook and it’s not time to eat after all… But I believe in being prepared!!! I will sit there patently, the whole time Mommy is cooking.

Tonight we had sloppy joes and applesauce. Yum! As soon as my food was put in front of me, I started to take a bite… Until Daddy said, “Amanda, we haven’t said a blessing yet.”… While looking out the corner of my eye at Mommy, I slowly put my spoon down. Then even before anyone else was ready to pray, I folded my hands and started praying… And why not? They were taking too long and I was hungry!!! Mommy and Daddy made me wait to eat until I had prayed with them though. *sighs*

Tonight Daddy said that we get to go to the zoo tomorrow!!! Yay! I want to see the animals! I’m so excited!!! We haven’t seen the cougars yet, and they’ve been at the zoo for an entire month. As soon as Daddy gets home from work we’re going to pile into the Durango and off we go!! I’m sure that Mommy will be taking lots of pictures. She always does.  ;)

I sure like my Mommy. I like to ask everyone if they like her too. I will go up to Jared or Daddy and say, “Do you like my Mommy?” Daddy always says, “I love your Mommy.” (So mushy!) but Jared always says either, “She’s my Mommy too!” or “She’s been my Mommy longer!”… I don’t get that! If she’s *my* Mommy, how could she be Jared’s Mommy too? I don’t think I like that. I don’t want to share my Mommy. So I hold on tight to Mommy and tell them, “She’s MY Mommy!”

Mommy has been really busy since we moved in. I’ve been missing my extra snuggle time. So I will follow Mommy all over the house and whine, “I need you Mommy, I need you!” Then I will hug her legs tight, so that she can’t move. Most of the time it works. Mommy will pick me up and we’ll sit and snuggle for a few minutes… But sometimes she tells me that she is busy, and then she puts in a movie for me… That works too!!!

I like to watch movies! I like to watch Veggie Tales, and Pooh Bear, and Nemo. I love the new Brother Bear movie. That’s the one I picked out to watch tonight. Have you seen Brother Bear 2? It’s really good!… Today The Wild came out on DVD, Daddy and Mommy will probably buy it on payday. Mommy likes to collect Disney movies. She’s been collecting them since she was 16 and had her first job.

Movies and Costumes

I am starting to really like to watch movies. Oh, I have liked them for a while now, but now I am starting to sit and watch the whole thing, without getting up to do something else. Guess my attention span is getting longer… I usually just watch whatever movies my brothers or sister pick out. And when we eat, we watch old TV shows together as a family… Shows like The Brady Bunch, Gilligan’s Island, The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, etc… I love those too.

When I get to pick the movies, I like to watch Pooh Bear movies, and Veggie Tales. But those aren’t my favorites. Nope. My favorite has got to be Finding Nemo. I just LOVE that movie! It’s so bright and colorful. I love Dorie. I always giggle when she comes on… The first time I watched the movie, I cried when it was over.

Alicia is starting to play with me more and more. We have some girl time together, when Jared and Josh are doing school. I like playing with my big sister. She is funny!

It’s almost time for Halloween. I’m going to be a water pixie this year. I have the cutest lavender costume, with nice pixie wings. I like it when Mommy puts it on me, and I get to prance around the house with it on.

We’ll be wearing our costumes a lot this coming weekend. On Saturday we’re going to the scavenger hunt at the zoo. We’ve been doing that every year since I’ve been born. Then on Sunday night, they are letting the Awana kids dress up in costumes… Maybe Mommy will let me dress up and go too. Then Monday is Halloween. We’ll be going to Grandma and Grandpa’s house, and we get to do some trick-or-treating!!! Jacob and Jamie will be there too.

My Birthday

I finally had my birthday… Well, it’s been a month ago now. I really need to post more than I do… Anyway, I had a fun birthday! The party/BBQ at our house was a big success, and I think everyone had fun. I got a lot of fun new things, like some dolls, clothes, and a care bear. I got other things too. (Like $25.00!!! Mommy and Daddy put it in my savings.)

I got to spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa’s last Saturday night. It was Mommy and Daddy’s anniversary, so they wanted to go on a date. So off we all went with Grandma and Grandpa. They came and picked us up, and we got to ride in Grandpa’s big pickup truck. Grandma and Grandpa said we were all really good, and that made Mommy and Daddy happy… I sure was excited to see them come in the house on Sunday. I giggled and ran around saying, “Mommy! Daddy!” over and over again.

We went to the zoo on Wednesday. It’s the first time we’ve gone since I learned to walk. Usually I’m either in the stroller, or I’m being carried. But this time I got a walk a lot! That was fun! Mommy says I must have walked more than half the zoo. I was so tired when we were done, that I fell asleep in my car seat as soon as we left the parking lot. Hope we get to go again soon.

Summertime Fun

I’ve really been enjoying summer. I love, love, love to play outside with my brothers and sister. They are so much fun, and they love to do things with me. They give me rides in the jeep, and Jared protects me from the sprinkler. I am getting a very nice tan! (Don’t worry, Mommy remembers to put sun screen on me.)

Can you believe that in 5 days I’m going to be 2 years old?! I’m getting to be a big girl! Mommy is a little sad about it, because she still thinks of me as her baby, but that’s OK. She spoils me, so I don’t mind her calling me a baby… For now.

We are going to have a birthday party at our house for me on the 20th. We’re having a BBQ, and everyone from Daddy’s family is invited. I can’t wait! I get to have a Tinkerbell cake, and Tinkerbell plates, and even a Tinkerbell pinata! I’m sure that Mommy will take lots of pictures, and lots of video. (She always does, you know!)

Did I mention that I am sleeping in a big girl bed now! I just LOVE my new bed! It’s white like Alicia’s, but it looks different. It’s a little taller, and has bigger head and base boards. I like that I can get out of bed on my own in the mornings, and that I don’t have to wait for Mommy to come get me.

I also went on my first road trip. We went to LaGrande to see my Grammy. She lives a long way away. It took over 4 hours to drive there, but Mommy says that I was a very good girl on the trip. (Though, I admit I was glad to be out of the van when we got there!)

While we were there I got to go into a big pool for the first time. That was a lot of fun. I got cold after a while though, and wanted out before the others did. So I sat next to Mommy in the lawn chairs. It was fun watching the other kids play in the water with Daddy.

How do I manage to get to sleep with Mommy?… By waking up at 5 a.m., crying and yelling “I want Ga-ga! I want Ga-ga!” loud enough to wake the dead. (Mommy in this case.) (Oh, by the way, Ga-ga is what I call milk.) Mommy was worried that I might wake Alicia, so she brought me to her bed. Tee-hee! Now I have Mommy figured out!

We went to PetSmart yesterday, because Jared and Josh wanted to look at the kitties. (Josh is trying to talk Daddy into letting him have one, but Daddy’s not going for it.) Anyway, we got to look at fish, and three kitties, some birds, some hamsters, gerbils and rats. Mommy lifted me up so I could watch the gerbils. They are so funny! I giggled and giggled. One was running around the cage, and digging at the glass. So fun to watch!

This weekend is the 4th of July. We get to go to a parade! Since I can walk this year I will get to help pick up candy. Woo-hoo! Of course, Mommy probably won’t let me have too much. Spoil sport!

I Can Count!

I’ve been having a pretty good day today, though I was a little upset when Daddy and Josh went bye-bye and left me home. That’s very rude you know. Mommy said that they went to mow the grass at church, but I still don’t see why I couldn’t go too.

This morning I shocked Mommy. She was changing my diaper and I started counting my fingers. She just couldn’t believe I could do that… She didn’t know that Jared has been counting with me. It sure is fun to trick Mommy like that!

I got to play on the old computer today. Mommy put in the Reader Rabbit toddler game. It was so much fun!! My brothers and sisters helped me play it. I like to push the buttons on the keyboard… In fact, I have messed up the old computer two times now, and Mommy has had to reformat it twice. This makes Josh and Jared upset, because they lose all the saved information on their games. Tee hee! Isn’t that what a little sister is for?! To bug them?!

Getting Around

I’ve been doing good. I’m walking so well now, you’d never know I was delayed… And let me tell you, I love to walk! It’s so much easier to get around, and I can carry things while I walk.

I’ve still been full of mischief. I don’t climb on the desks anymore (Mommy cured me of that.)… Now I like to get into the bathroom cabinet, and remove all the contents. That was fouled though. Mommy had Daddy bring home a cabinet lock, so now I can’t open the doors any more. Bummer.

I heard Mommy tell Daddy that they need to get me in a toddler bed soon. The other morning, when Mommy came to get me out of bed, I had my foot over the edge of the railing. That scared Mommy a little I guess. I don’t know what the big deal was. I was just trying to get out of bed. Mommies, I tell ya.

My second birthday is coming up in 2 months. Mommy and Daddy said that I could have a BBQ birthday party in our backyard, since my birthday is in August. Mommy found some really cute Tinkerbell party plates and stuff on ebay. The plates are shaped like purple hearts, and have Tinkerbell on them. They are so cute, and I love them! I can’t wait for my party!!!
